Big News!

It's been a really exciting 9 months for Michael and I and it has been really hard NOT to share the excitement on the blog/Facebook. But as you can probably guess from my bump above we are expecting a son very soon!   I wanted to keep things quiet for a while just because I didn't want to stress out any of my clients (who all know) and potential clients. I know planning a wedding is stressful and I didn't want to put any more worries in the back of any one's minds.

I've shot my last wedding pre-baby and after tomorrow I'll officially be able to say I'm 100% caught up on work! Yay! I am so excited to meet our little bundle and I'll be back to work soon, I'll miss it so much! Here are a few things I'd like to remind you guys of...

Current Clients:
--If you are waiting on a disc, it has been mailed or will be mailed out tomorrow. Keep an eye out for your special delivery!
--If you need to order anything directly from me (not the online galleries) please do so no later than this Friday, the 18th. All orders placed after this time will not be filled until I return from maternity leave.
--I WILL be checking my email, but I will NOT be the email ninja I usually am. Please understand if it takes a couple of days to hear back from me.

Potential Clients:
--I am still booking sessions for after my return from maternity leave. I'm excited to have a full line up when I'm back in the groove. If you are interested in booking a session or wedding please contact me and I'll reply just as soon as I can.
--I have the following openings for weddings:  2 more bookings in August, 1 booking in September, 1 booking in November and 1 in December.
--I am also accepting (and booking quickly) weddings for 2013. If you are interested in reserving your date or want more info, just let me know!

As of now I plan to be on maternity leave until July 15th so during this time please bear with me if I respond a little slower or can't fulfill orders quickly. And of course I'll have photos to show off just as soon as our little man arrives.

See you guys soon!
xo,
Lindsey

Jared and Michelle's Wedding :: St. Bernard Breaux Bridge and Vermilionville

After a small sneak peek on Facebook, I'm here with more favorites from Jared and Michelle's wedding. Truth be told it took forever to put this preview together. Reason being, I couldn't stop picking favorites and could have turned this post into a full wedding gallery.

This is kind of similar to the relationship I have with Jared and Michelle. They are so wonderful I can't get enough of them. Jared is a sweet, southern guy with charm and dance moves for days. Michelle is one of the nicest girls you'll ever meet. She is detail oriented with great taste that showed in all the unique aspects of their big day. And together all of these great qualities combine into a couple that is a fabulous as the sum of their parts.

On the weekend before Mardi Gras they treated their many out of town visitors and local guests to their very own carnivale with a king cake wedding cake (that was to die for!), glittery masks and personalized beads. Incorporating Cajun traditions like the "wedding march" and zydeco from an authentic down-home band made the day truly special. The couple even reenacted a photo from the bride's parents' wedding day at the same church years ago and in honor of the grooms' parents they followed tradition and run a bell Vermilionville in celebration.  The big day was infused from beginning to end with lots of southern charm and tradition.

At the end of the evening, with beads around my neck and a slice of king cake to go, I couldn't help feel super lucky to have been asked to be a part of this celebration. It is such a pleasure to share in the joy of such amazing couples like Jared and Michelle and their families. That evening I fell asleep with a happy heart, a belly full of king cake and "Mardi Gras Mambo" echoing in my dreams.

Congrats Mr. and Mrs!
We wish you all the best!

xo,
Lindsey

13 On Thursday :: Garter Edition

This week for 13 on Thursday, I thought I'd try something a little different. I've been bookmarking some of my favorite garters for a long time with the hopes to share them with brides to be.

As a photographer, I love photographing all the little details of the bridal look, including garters. And as someone who obviously is around a lot of weddings I think that sadly, garters can sometimes get overlooked. But I think they are such a unique heirloom that could easily be passed down to your daughter or daughter-in-law. I know if my mom would have had a gorgeous garter, I would have definitely worn it on my big day.

So without further ado, below are thirteen fabulous garters perfect for your bridal trousseau. It would be so cool to show up at a wedding and see one of these ready to be photographed!

  1. Janie garter from La Gartier
  2. Je'taime garter from florrie mitton
  3. Rachel garter from Kirsten Kuehn
  4. Miss Rosette garter from The Garter Girl
  5. Crystal Bow garter from woomi pyo
  6. Stella garter from Emily Riggs Bridal
  7. Ethereal garter from florrie mitton
  8. Regal Vintage garter from GarterLady
  9. Vintage Rosette from Gracefully Girly
  10. Black Chiffon garter from Natalie Briggs
  11. Modern Platinum garter from StudioWed by Mirela
  12. Genevieve garter from Emily Riggs
  13. Sophia garter by JLWeddings
Did you have a special garter? Or will you be getting a a fancy one for you big day? Do share!

Lindsey

What To Wear Wednesday :: Retro Edition

Another "What to Wear Wednesday" for ya! I call this one the retro edition because I can picture these outfits in a vintage style engagement shoot with milkshakes and park benches--a perfect option for those who love the "good old days." Can't you just picture the pin curls and bright ruby lips?!
    Enjoy!

    13 On Thursday

Back again! This week has flown by (hence the late post) here, I think it has something to do with Mardi Gras and lots of activities going on. Here's 13 quick thoughts for ya...

    1. I'm in love with this pattern. Thinking of trying to incorporate it into my branding. What do you think?
    2. Speaking of patterns, my girls at Kate Spade have a fabulous new line "Florence Broadhurst Japanese Floral." They have even partnered with Tretorn (boy I used to love tretorns) for some funky sneakers and you can win a Vespa in the pattern. I totally need this Vespa. I'd look so chic showing up to shoots on this little guy!
    3. Another really cute (and free!) camera download--such sweet little postcards.
    4. Remember the wedding cake, I was excited about last week? Well it totally lived up to my expectations--in look and taste. Photos coming tomorrow...perhaps bad timing since it may give you a King Cake craving!
    5. My friend Tracie just published a book. You should totally download it, I can't wait to read it.
    6. I'm totally loving the bright colors for spring. I just ordered my self a pair of hot pink jeans! Oh yes, I did!
    7. It's been years since I've even so much as thought of "fruit roll ups." Enter pinterest. Now I'm obsessed with making this fruit leather.
    8. I read one pinner on Pinterest who posted she has bought no clothing over the last year without thinking "Would Coco Chanel wear this?" What a great idea to stay stylish, right?
    9. While we are on the whole pinterest topic. Have you seen Link With Love's campaign? As an artist (and avid pinner) I'm 100% behind the movement.
    10. Have you dropped by The Bright Side Project lately? Good stuff going on there!
    11. Loving these necklaces by Kim Dulaney. They remind me of things I'd create as a child only way more sophisticated!
    12. What kid wouldn't like to have sparkling stars on their ceiling? Okay, okay...I would even love to have these! Magical!
    13. Okay, I'm off to indulge my taste buds with this recipe as a midnight (er, 10pm) snack.
Leave me some love, let me know you dropped by!
    xo,
    Lindsey

    13 on Thursday

Time again for another installment of 13 on Thursday. I am getting back in the swing of things with blogging again and I look forward to posting these--it's a bit of a "brain dump" and a fun way to share.
I hope you guys are having a great week!

     { photo by yours truly, an instagram masterpiece }
    1. From my Valentine, I requested Cadbury Mini Eggs. They are one of my favorite candies and are only available for such a short time. So when I found out that they were on the shelves in a local store, I knew I wanted to get a jump start! :-) Did you get anything fun for Vday?
    2. Speaking of sweet treats...Mardi Gras is around the corner and I've only had one piece of king cake! Kind of seems sad in a way. Good news is the wedding we are shooting this weekend will have a King Cake Wedding Cake. Yum! Photos and reviews to follow!
    3.  In photography news, Nikon finally announced their much anticipated D800 camera. It has some amazing specs. I can't wait to see some real world examples, it may push me to order one.
    4. These are much cuter than a Nikon and under $5!
    5. I came across this Wedding Day Emergency Kit and thought I'd share for the brides-to-be who are reading. In my camera bag I always stow away bobby pins, safety pins and advil which have all came in handy. This extended kit would cover most wedding day snafus.
    6. After a brief hiatus, I'm back to using Instagram once again. Are you on Instagram? You should follow me! You can also check out my photostream via my Facebook Page.
    7. With spring and summer around the corner, wouldn't it be fun to have an oversized, outdoor Jenga in your backyard? It would be a fun DIY!
    8. Not sure why this is resurfacing now around the internet, but it is just as interesting as it was in 2007. Find out what happens when The Washington Post and phenomenal musician Joshua Bell conduct an experiment to answer the question: "In a banal setting at an inconvenient time, would beauty transcend?" The answer is quite sad, actually.
    9. Since my "30 before 30 list" is behind me, I'm thinking I should begin compiling a life list or bucket list. My hubby's aunt is quite a bucket list inspiration. Do you have a bucket list? Do share!
    10. Have you seen the TOMS ballet flats? I can't decide which ones I want...but I definitely want some.
    11. While I'm on the shoe subject...When I was a little girl, I had a pair of pink Converse high tops. I just stumbled upon these polka dot Chuck Taylor's that really make me want to relive my childhood a bit. Am I too old to where these?!? I am a polka lover!
    12. I'm looking for a few good fiction books to read. Everything I have on my bookshelf right now is non-fiction...need to give my brain a break. Any suggestions?
    13. Ever since the Grammys, I've been back on the Adele bandwagon. I can't get her songs out of my head. Well, Adele and LMFAO...every time I get one of of their anthems in my head it gets stuck there!
Well, that's it for this week's installment! Leave me a comment or share your own links. I'd love to check in with you too.

    xo,
    Lindsey

What to Wear Wednesday :: Dot to Dot

Today I'm sharing two outfits that would be perfect for a springtime engagement session. Lots of times my clients like to wear one more casual outfit and one a little dressier. So here are two examples of fun, flirty outfits for the girl who loves polka dots (like me!).
